Teaching

I began teaching at the University of Sydney in 2005. I am currently the unit co-ordinator of four or five units (depending on how you count them), INFO3220 (Object Oriented Design) in Semester 1, INFO1105 + INFO1905 Data Structures, BINF3101 Bioinformatics Project, and COMP3456 Computational Methods for the Life Sciences (no relation to Mathematics for Life Sciences); all in Semester 2. I love teaching. It's not masochism, honest. <smileyface>

Last year I taught COMP3456 for the first time. The slides for that unit are here. They were adapted from the slides that were released with the course text, "Introduction to Bioinformatics Algorithms" by Jones & Pevzner. The will probably change for Semester 2, 2009, but serve as a good guide as to what the unit is about in the mean time. If you are interested in enrolling for this unit but are concerned that you do not satisfy the prerequisits, please contact me!

I am supervising several PhD students in the School of IT and some with Dr Lars Jermiin in the School of Biological Sciences

I am also chairing the Teaching, Learning and Curriculum committee at the School of IT.
