Graduation

Graduating Students

Students who have completed the requirements of their course of study, and who now want to graduate with the award, need to apply to graduate as follows:

  • Collect a Postgraduate Graduation form (blue form) from the School of IT office. Complete this form and return it to the School of IT office. Your form will be assessed by the Postgraduate Coursework Director before being forwarded to the GSE for processing.
  • A Graduation Letter will be sent to you in due course from the Graduations Office advising as to when your graduation ceremony will be held.
  • A Letter of Completion will also be generated and sent to your postal address. Please make sure your contact details with the University are up-to-date.

Transferring/Graduating Students (MIT > Grad DipIT)

Students who are enrolled in the Master of IT, have completed the requirements of the Graduate Diploma of IT, and who want to exit early from this course and graduate with a GradDipIT award instead, should do the following:

  • Complete a Transfer Candidature form, attach an enrolment history or copy of transcript, and return all documentation to the School of IT office. Your form will be assessed by the Postgraduate Coursework Director before being forwarded to the GSE for processing.

and at the same time;

  • Collect a Postgraduate Graduation form (blue form) from the School office. Complete this form and return it to the School with your Transfer of Candidature information. Your form will be assessed and forwarded to the GSE for processing.
  • A Graduation Letter will be sent to you in due course from the Graduations Office advising as to when your graduation ceremony will be held.
  • A Letter of Completion will also be generated and sent to your postal address. Please make sure your contact details with the University are up-to-date.

For those students wanting to transfer and graduate from MIT to GradDipIT, the rules of the Graduate Diploma in Information Technology must be satisfied before this can occur (see Faculty of Engineering and IT Handbook for details).
